Snap Zone

Snap Zones in Fynd CORE allow users to define specific locations where objects can be placed automatically. This guide will walk you through the steps to create and configure a Snap Zone, add an action in the Scenario Builder, and test the functionality.

Step 1: Set Up the Scene

  • Ensure that the scene contains objects you want to interact with.
  • In this example, we have a vase and a branch that will be used for the snap interaction.

Step 2: Open the Tools Menu and Select Snap Zone

  • Click on the Tools Menu in the side panel.
  • Select the Snap Zone tool.

Step 3: Configure the Snap Zone

  • In the Snap Zone Settings panel, configure the following:
    • Name: (e.g., "Vase Snap Zone").
    • Shape: Choose between Cube, Sphere, or Capsule.
    • Snap Radius: Adjust the radius for object detection.
    • Advanced Settings: Toggle options like Always Visible and Apply Scale on Snap if needed.
  • Click the Create button to finalize the Snap Zone.

Step 4: Position and Resize the Snap Zone

  • Use gizmo in the context menu to adjust the position, size, and orientation of the Snap Zone.
  • Ensure it aligns correctly with the vase, so the branch snaps into place when dropped.

Step 5: Finalize the Snap Zone Placement

  • Double-check the size and position to ensure a correct fit.
  • The Snap Zone should be clearly visible and aligned with the vase.

Step 6: Create an Action in Scenario Builder

  • Open the Scenario Builder and select the Action Node.
  • This will define the interaction required to complete the task.

  • Give the action a Title (e.g., "Drop the branch in the vase").
  • Add a Description (optional).
  • Select the Snap Zone you created earlier as the object.
  • Choose Snap as the interaction type.

Step 8: Add an End Node

  • To complete the scenario, add an End Node to indicate that the task is complete when the last action in the scenario is performed.

Step 9: Test the Scenario

  • Click Play to test the interaction.
  • The task prompt will appear, instructing the user to Drop the branch in the vase.
